“We are profoundly honored to have been selected by the legendary Juanita MORE! as the beneficiary of her 2026 Pride Party!

Juanita MORE! is a true hero and history-maker in her own right; she has raised over $1.5 million for local LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations and has long been a steadfast advocate for our community. We are deeply grateful for this recognition and partnership.

As political extremists attempt to erase LGBTQ+ lives from public view all across the country, particularly targeting transgender, non-binary, immigrants, and people of color, the GLBT Historical Society’s work of preserving and sharing our community’s stories- especially the ones that mainstream media doesn’t cover- has never been more vital.

In moments like this, community support is not only meaningful—it is essential. Funds raised at this event will sustain our LGBTQ+ museum, the first of its kind in the United States; our archives, one of the largest repositories of LGBTQ+ historical materials in the world; and our public programs that bring community and allies together to learn about our past as we work to inspire our future. This support comes at a critical time, as the GLBT Historical Society prepares to design and open a new permanent home for our history and culture in the Castro neighborhood at 2280 Market Street.

In what has been a dark time for so many in our community, opportunities for joy, solidarity, and celebration matter more than ever. Juanita MORE!’s annual Pride Party is exactly the kind of gathering our community needs this year.

This annual tradition—a day of music, dancing, performance, and laughter—is more than a celebration; it’s a powerful opportunity to directly support the preservation and expansion of LGBTQ+ history, arts, and culture for generations to come.”

World-famous political activist, designer and flag-maker Gilbert Baker (1951-2017) created the Rainbow Flag in 1978. Over the next four decades, his creation would become embraced across the world as the universal symbol of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) movement.

“I thought of flags in a new light. I discovered the depth of their power, their transcendent, transformational quality. I thought of the emotional connection they hold.” — GILBERT BAKER
