LYRIC CENTER OF LGBTQ+ YOUTH

LYRIC Center of LGBTQ+ Youth: Founded in 1988, LYRIC is a 501c3 nonprofit located in the heart of San Francisco's Castro District. LYRIC's mission is to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career training, health promotion, and leadership development with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities.

LYRIC's vision is a diverse society where LGBTQQ youth are embraced for who they are and encouraged to be who they want to be. By working towards social justice and supporting young leaders, their families, and allies, LYRIC is building a world that honors, respects, and appreciates LGBTQQ youth and their contributions.

LYRIC plans to renovate and enlarge its first-floor space and transform an unused large rear yard storage annex to realize 50% more critically needed, accessible youth programming spaces. With this expansion, LYRIC will provide the next generation with engaging, well-equipped facilities for highly coordinated, wrap-around, personalized counseling and peer group programs proven to be the optimal standard for profound, lasting impact with each individual served.

LYRIC Center for LGBTQ+ Youth is not-for-profit 501c3, EIN #94-3227296

FROM THE DESK OF JUANITA MORE!

This year, the annual Juanita MORE! Pride Party is celebrating 20 years. What started as an alternative party to celebrate our community's diversity has become touted as simply the "best party of the year." This party is one of Pride Weekend's most significant nonprofit events.

Each year, I have taken great pleasure in seeking out some of our community's most impactful organizations as beneficiaries. The community has helped raise over $1 million for local charities by supporting events I have organized over the past three decades. I cannot thank everyone enough for all your contributions over those years.

This year, I have chosen the LYRIC Center of LGBTQQ Youth (Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center) in the San Francisco Bay Area as my annual Pride Party beneficiary.

I have an immense amount of respect for our queer elders and a responsibility to empower our queer youth. Our community has thrived because of the brave generations before us; those legends planted the seeds of love, compassion, strength, and resilience. My duty as a community leader is to keep those planted seeds alive.

Loads of Love, Juanita
